What's a POPUP? You probably have seen folks play what looks like a little picture in channel...these are called popups and they are a kind of script that is loaded usually in the remote scripts section of your mIRC editor. If you have ever wanted to have popups of your own, here are some popup files that you can download and then have fun with in channel! The instructions for how to save and load them is at the bottom, please be sure to read the directions carefully! Enjoy!!
Click on the buttons to get the file!
Disclaimer: Some of these popups WILL get you BANNED from channels for excessive text, including #Beginner!!
Don't say we didn't warn you.
Some files are in .zip format. You will have to unzip those. Some are .mrc format and can be directly installed into mIRC. Click here to go to the winzip web site and download winzip for your zip files. Winzip is NOT freeware, however. If you want a free ZIP file utility that is easy to use, try CAM unZip. Click here for the link.
When you downloaded the file(s), unzip them (if needed) to your default mIRC folder. Then start your mIRC, and type
//load -rs <filename> ie. //load -rs dahhs2.mrc (or whatever the file name is).
To use your new popups you will need to be in a channel; there you have to right-click in the nick list at the far right of your screen and find the pops in the menu. Some popups are general in nature, and some need to have a nick highlighted first in order to work. Just practice with them a little to learn how to use them. If you still have questions just ask in channel for help.
Optional sound files must be extracted to the default mIRC sounds folder.
We regret to say that cyfo's fabulous popup web site seems to be a dead link now, sorry.
