Domain Admin notes December 21, 2020  *please read* - Ladies and Gents, this domain has not been maintained in many, many years.  I think the last time a DNB site maintainer logged in was in 2010.  Parts of this site may be missing, or they just don't work anymore.  I ported it from IIS on Server 2003 to Server 2019 IIS 10 in Dec 2020 to sort of keep it alive.

I've left it up as intact as it is as a tribute albeit it a very incomplete one to the massive amounts of fun, laughter, love, tears, friendships, conflicts, attitudes and attitude adjustments, mental stress, and friends and acquaintances who have since passed on or otherwise drifted away from being in contact, and the worldwide "cool" of the heyday of IRC.

It was a time before the many fragmented ways we have now of communicating with each other via social media.  But, I ask, are they better now than back then? Most of us who were part of the IRC wave would probably say yeah, it had that certain "thing" about it that we'll not see again.

Notice:  There is always irc.nowherenet.org / https://nowherenet.org/irc.html

An introduction to our channel (and we hope you may want to make it yours as well):

#Beginner was founded on May 28, 1996, and grew into one of the largest channels on DALnet. The number of users has significantly varied over the years, especially with the advent of many new chat clients and DDoS (denial of service) attacks. From day one to the present time, #Beginner remains a friendly channel. It's a great place to meet and make great friends, and get your IRC questions answered. Our goal remains keeping #Beginner a friendly, family oriented help/chat channel.

We have a nice pool of regular users, and of course our friendly staff. If you have been around and visited here much in the past you might see some nicks you recognize from way back, along with a lot of new folks.
"You people aren't beginners!" is a comment often seen in channel. No, a lot of us aren't beginners. The ops in #beginner are required to know a lot about IRC, IRC Clients, and DALnet Services and are there to answer the new (and not so new) user's IRC questions to the best of our ability.

So come on in to #beginner, relax and don't worry that you are new and inexperienced...remember, we ALL started out as beginners at one time!!

We proudly run no cookies, java, iframes, activex, or other stuff on our servers that could  be potentially compromised for your surfin' safety :-)
